On Saturday, June 6, 2015, the UDC held ceremonies commemorating the 207th Birthday of President Jefferson Davis that included a wreath laying at President Davis’ grave in Hollywood Cemetery and a program at the UDC Memorial Building. The program was led by Mrs. Floyd M. Townsend, Chairman, Jefferson Davis Memorial Committee, and Mrs. Harold Jay Trammell, President General, UDC.

Davis, who┬áis best remembered as President of the Confederacy, was a graduate of West Point, fought in the Mexican War, was U.S. Secretary of War under President Franklin Pierce, and served as a U.S. Senator from Mississippi. In addition to the presentation of state flags in order of secession and where there is a UDC presence, the program featured Col. Gregory Eanes’, USAF (Ret.), who spoke on “Enduring Principles,” and a musical performance by the group Virginia Dare.
